Medicinal Herbs for Migraine

As medications for migraine do not offer relief, we seek for medicinal herbs. It is commonly believed that “it is both natural and we can get rid of our migraines”, but there is no such solution.

Migraine is a bio-electrical disease. To provide complete control of this disease, bio-electrical disturbances (interference fields) in the autonomic nervous system should be corrected. Taking medication, herbs, and so on do not treat the bio-electrical system, but affects it. The effects of them may help to reduce the frequency of attacks. These treatments can be regarded as preventive measures, which reduce the frequency of attacks.

It is not Possible to Get Rid of Migraines with Herbs

Even though positive short-term solutions are obtained in all of these treatments, the course of the disease does not show any significant change when observed over the years.

There are medicinal herbs for migraine but is long-term healing possible? I have heard about herbal teas, some herbal remedies and similar experiences from my patients. As it is not as common as the use of drugs, the number of patients I have received data does not exceed thousands. However, I have received different information from them. In respect of rosemary tea in particular, while some patients told they hadn’t benefitted from it at all, others told that it had helped to decrease the frequency of attacks. While evaluating these comments, it should be taken into account that someone who benefitted from herbs wouldn’t consult me for his treatment.

My point is that as migraine is a bio-electrical disorder, the direct healing effect of herbs might be limited. Can the course of migraine follow a positive pattern after a long period of time? Moreover, the discipline homoeopathy focuses on the negative effects of long-term intake of a plant and accepts that symptoms of diseases caused by a particular herb can be seen.

In the light of this information, even though there are so many advertisements of medicinal herbs on the internet, I cannot recommend the intensive use of herbs in migraine treatment. Do not consider it to be harmless as it is an herb.
