All people experience headache at least once in their lifetime. These headaches may be acute or chronic and while it is possible for recurrent pains to not leave a permanent damage, a one-time headache may be life-critical.
Headaches, the most common being the tension type, are mostly temporary and harmless. Among various types, migraine is the most well-known and the one having the most negative effects on life quality. Cluster headache, although rare, is severe.
Headaches may become continuous and if the patient is using drugs often, he or she gets to be diagnosed with chronic headache.
Trigeminal neuralgia is like flashes and momentary electrifications. The pain is unbearable.
Infections, tumors, strokes, brain hemorrhages, temporal arthritis, hypertension, some drugs, etc. may also cause headache. These are called secondary headaches, as pains originate from another problem.
