Restless Leg Syndrome Story
“I have been suffering from pain in the back of the right foot (back upper leg) in the six year period from 2009 until now. I haven’t had any complaints of pain during daytime but I’ve had difficulties at night. I feel uneasy at times when I feel tension in my legs in the evenings. While sitting, instead of stretching my leg, I bend my leg towards my abdoman or feel the need to get my feet under my hips and keep my feet stretched.
Days passed like this as it didn’t bother me so much. I started to wake up with pain in my upper back leg at around 4-5 a.m. The pain was always located in the same place. I stretched my foot, it didn’t work. I bend my leg towards my abdoman and move it to the right and left but it doesn’t work. I get up sleepily. I feel a terrible pain in my right upper leg until I step on my foot. The pain disappears after taking a few steps. I walk for about 10 minutes to ease my pain.
I have seen so many orthopaedics, brain surgeons and psychiatrists for many years to find the causes. My bones were examined. I had an MRI Scan. I convinced myself that there is nothing to worry about and I should be patient. But nothing changed, on the contrary it even got worse within months so I decided to have physical therapy treatment. I had heat therapy for 20 days. I was told that massage could do me good, so I had massage for 1-2 months, but it didn’t benefit me at all. Psychiatric drugs helped psychologically, but didn’t benefit my leg. Some of the medications even made it worse.
I slept in a hospital sleeping room and the specialists wrote ‘The results are in accordance with the presence of restless leg syndrome’. The neurologist prescribed a medication used for Parkinson. It caused nausea, but it didn’t clear up the symptoms.
I have recently started to have pain in the evenings. I have had to go to the hospital to be given a shot for pain relief. The reason why I have so long is to introduce my illness. Do you think I may have restless leg syndrome. Can my condition be treated by Gokmen Approach? Can you please help me? I feel terribly helpless…’
